Is it Beautiful or Useful?

We are moving house in a few weeks. We are seasoned veterans at this, not something you really want to be good at! I am a mild hoarder and I really don‘t want to be moving all our ‘stuff‘ to the new place unless it has to come.
So I called up a girlfriend and asked her to come over and help me start the process of elimination. My friend is a big fan of The Fly Lady and attributes that site to saving her butt many a time.

So the motto is for the day ( and ongoing) is:

If it‘s not beautiful or useful, get rid of it!!

And get rid of it we did. We started out with my fabric/craft supplies and ended up giving 5 garbage bags to the Salvo‘s. I‘m talking buttons, thread, fabric, patterns, half finished projects, magazines - all the things that have made me feel overwhelmed and UNproductive. Yes I could have sold it all on eBay or whatnot BUT I would have put that off for another day. This way as soon as we had finished sorting and sharing I put the bags in the car and popped them in the donation bin right then and there, and let me tell you, I woke up 5kilos lighter!

I also rang the council and organised a hard rubbish pick up, something I had been putting off for ages - it took 10 minutes to do!
